Laundry Detergent Recipe

Submitted by Amy

Make your own Laundry Detergent!. Makes aprox. 2 gallons..

You will need, a 2 gallon bucket, a saucepan

1 Bar of soap

1/2 C Washing Soda

1/2 C Borax

Grate soap, add to sauce pan w/ 6 C of water. Heat on med. low until soap melts. Add washing soda & borax, stir slowly until mixed. Remove from heat. Pour 4 C hot water into bucket, add soap mixture, & stir. Add 1 gal. plus 6 c water to dilute. Let the soap sit for 24 hours, it will be a runny gel. Use 1/2C per load...for pennies a load! I use this in my HE machine and it works great.

Use some shavings of Tree of Life soap (castille soap is olive oil soap) to make this Green all purpose cleaner (recipe provided by Good Housekeeping July 2008)

Don't forget your first aid kit!

Keep a bar of natural soap (rich in iodine!) in your first aid kit and wash wounds frequently to promote healing, and ward off infection.

May I recommend Chamomile Calendula for it's high tea tree oil content.

Order a 2oz Lavender Oil spray. Apply as a soothing aid for mild burn or insect bites

All soap weights are approximate. Soaps are weighed at time of cutting and weight-loss does occur during curing. There is no lye in finished soap.
